Glide past rushes, graceful herons and contemplative cows as the paddle wheels churn rhythmically on. Vistas of distant mountains frame waterways full of birds: black swans, cormorants, pelicans and ducks. As you pass by a sea eagle's nest high atop a tree in the rainforest, the aroma of fresh coffee from the galley drifts across the clean air...
Paddle Steamer Curlip II is a replica of an historic paddle steamer of the Snowy River, in Far East Gippsland, Victoria and has been featured on both Coxy's Big Break and the ABC's Landline, and also featured in a variety of print media including the Weekly Times.
A community project, her construction has utilised the traditional skills of wooden boat builders, and thousands of hours of volunteer labour. The Curlip operates as a cruise vessel on the Snowy River Estuary exploring the natural and cultural heritage of this hidden gem of south east Australia. The vessel is berthed and departs from the Brodribb River Jetty, Marlo. Coffee and homemade light snacks are available on board for purchase.
One and a half hour cruises on times and days specified in the Sailing Dates Cruise Calendar. Before travelling to Marlo it is advisable to ring our mobile number 0411 395 903 and confirm that the Curlip is sailing.
Tickets are also available at Marlo General Store.
Groups of 30 or more receive a 10% discount. Groups are strongly recommended to book in advance.
Drinks and snacks are available for purchase on board.
(Fares include a Parks Victoria fee as the vessel passes through Coastal and Flora and Fauna Reserves.)
